Thai Imperial, Johor Bahru…that’s my hard earned money given to a stranger for nothing.
Life in Singapore can be tense. We gird ourselves for overcrowded commutes. We hunch over technology all day long, sit through stressful meetings. Every once in a bit, I permit myself a break and head to Johor Bahru with tired feet, tight muscles and shoulders in need of soothing.
Thai Imperial is in a house and they have three reserved parking spots right in front of their door but the therapist is below average and not very good at finding the spots that need work and nor working them thoroughly enough. There was no stretching or anything. I was hoping to sooth my muscle pain at my neck / back, but got 0 difference.
That’s my hard earned money given to a stranger for nothing. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Raymond’s, New Jersey…it doesn’t get more old school that this
You may not be able to tell from the outside, but stepping into this nondescript diner is like going back in time, gotta love that 1930s style décor.
On the food front, not to miss is Raymond’s French Toast – with fresh fruit and pure Berkshires maple syrup which is heavenly – amped up with a side of smoked bacon – some of the best smoked bacons I have ever had. The food is prepared and served significantly better than most diners in tourist areas or business districts, but it’s still affordable. For a weekday breakfast, you will feel right at home.
Raymond’s reminds us that some things should never change. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…
