Lila’s Laundrette, London…expensive and next to no joy

I slim down my suitcase by doing laundry every few days when on vacation. Self-service laundromat helps saves money than hotel laundry service when you are self-funding. Therefore it seems not a bad idea to take a few days accumulation of clothing for a hot water wash at a laundrette place.

Unless you really have to, do not go to Lila’s Laundrette near Marble Arch. It is expensive, the owner is not the most honest guy and they do not change dryer filters which increases the cost to dry your clothes.

For me, that’s not good. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Monarch Coin Laundry, Cambridge…the shabbiest laundrette I’ve been in

It hits me as soon as I step into Monarch Coin Laundry, it’s absolutely filthy. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years, really. There are nearly no self serve laundromats in the area so this place doesn’t even have to try.

There are plenty of different sized washers and dryers for small to large loads. Not much else good to say. Other than being dirty, there are no change machine on site (nip over to the Tesco express next door) and no folding tables or anywhere to fold.

It’s a beaten up laundromat. Don’t go in with high expectations and you’ll leave decently satisfied. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Clean Pro Express, Melaka…spotlessly clean and bright. Love this place!

Love this place! The machines are top-of-the line; and the laundromat is spotlessly clean and bright. Despite being pretty crowded, there were still machines free and the process was totally pleasant. There’s sufficient folding space and sitting room. They’re even open 24 hours.

Would be even better if they had change machine and wifi. Perhaps even big screen televisions to entertain you as you do your wash?

It is definitely the beat place around Melaka. For any potential future needs, I’d definitely come back. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Mr Green Laundry, New York City…..just 2 blocks away from Times Square

Laundry, laundry, laundry. A chore and obligation that could cost a bomb when you are on holiday in NYC for two weeks. Mr. Green Laundry offers customers the choice of doing their own laundry  in the self service area(change for the machines and soap / bleach / fabric softener available at the counter)  or dropping their clothes off (wash / dry / fold) to be completed by one of the attendants. I’m so happy to have found them. They are like godsend. T

I was staying in Times Square and needed the closest one I could find. It turned out to be just 2 blocks away and the prices are really fair for Hell’s Kitchen. Mr Green Laundry is well lit, bright, with plenty of space to walk between washers and well-distributed folding tables. It has new looking and clean washers (no mold in the cracks!). The dryers are similarly clean and also come in two sizes. The only bummer is that the last wash is at 8.20pm.

The pastries in the cafe next door is amazing too. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…
