Barnabier, Barcelona…A Simple, Most Delicious Sandwich

Barnabier is situated on the Olympic port walk overlooking the luxurious marina at a walking distance from the Barcelona casino, so it’s quite literally tourist central.

To me the world’s greatest simple ham sandwich is a combination of two things that I loved to eat in Spain! Iberico ham and a garlic, tomato rubbed bread. With that rich flavor profile, it is without a doubt one of the best gastronomic pleasures there is.

There’s lots to love here, and lots that could be a little better. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Dean & Deluca, Bangkok…worth visiting whether you’re in the mood to eat or not

Famed for its appearances in Hannibal and American Psycho, celebrity customers and fancy food, New York City’s gourmet grocer, the quintessential lifestyle brand, Dean & DeLuca is now a massive multi-channel retailer of gourmet foods, drinks and kitchenware.

The Lobster avocado poached egg toast – lobster salad, avocado, poached egg on toasted sourdough, rocket, balsamic – is as Instagrammable as it gets. It certainly takes poached eggs to a new level. Most importantly I am left thinking there are things here I want to come back for.

Any place with that sort of thing like the lobster avocado poached egg toast on the menu surely deserves my deep respect. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Glow, Ho Chi Minh City…perfect for an undisturbed pint in the moonlight

Nowadays it’s a race to the top as everyone vies to head up to rooftops for cocktails that little closer to the stars.

Thirteen storeys up at the President Place building in District 1, Glow boasts a laidback atmosphere with plenty of tropical trees, black-and-white furnishing and spacious dancefloor. There are fabulous views whichever way you look. The place hum with the sort of vibe that practically demands a second bottle of white be ordered.

It’s perfect for an undisturbed pint in the moonlight. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Go Noodle House, Johor Bahru…noodle soup in JB gets better

When I am in JB, a bowl of warm, rich and comforting noodle soup is still rarely far from my mind. Go Noodle House has taken noodle broth to new heights.

Superior soup bursting meatballs is a winner. The stock was fragrant and rich. The ban mian, which I order with regular thickness,  come with a lovely bite and spot-on, especially with their moreish undertone. The bursting meatballs has a perky tastiness that lifted the spirit as well as the tongue. Man, this meatball is great! Don’t forget the dates wolfberry tea.

Put Go Noodle House on your Johor Bahru map. It’s one of the best noodle soup you can get in this city. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Lila’s Laundrette, London…expensive and next to no joy

I slim down my suitcase by doing laundry every few days when on vacation. Self-service laundromat helps saves money than hotel laundry service when you are self-funding. Therefore it seems not a bad idea to take a few days accumulation of clothing for a hot water wash at a laundrette place.

Unless you really have to, do not go to Lila’s Laundrette near Marble Arch. It is expensive, the owner is not the most honest guy and they do not change dryer filters which increases the cost to dry your clothes.

For me, that’s not good. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Lotte Outlets, Seoul… Avoid, avoid

In Seoul it is easy to shop ’til you drop. With so many options, how can you know where to go first?

I can’t answer that question for you but I do know the one not to go at all would be Lotte Outlets. It is by far the saddest mall experience in Seoul. Good luck to anyone trying to find great value stuff to buy.

Lotte Outlets is forgettable. Next. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Le Boky, Geneva…light on quality Chinese

Every food-loving traveller has an intimate relationship with Chinese food.

With a long, long list of menu items, even the pickiest eaters will find something to sample at le Boky. For all the food it has to offer, Le Boky is light on quality Chinese. You don’t come here for inventive, contemporary eats — you come for familiar plates of fried rice with roasted pork and chives and fried Japanese tofu with salted duck eggs , served quick and hot.

You want frills? You came to the wrong Chinese. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…
