Airbnb, Condo Grand View 360, Johor Bahru…thumbs down for misrepresenting the listing

If you’re like me, you do not know much about Airbnb. But this much I do know…when I show up to my rental, I should find that it is what was advertised.

With my rental of Unit A05-02 at Condo Grand View 360 in Johor Bahru, the listing booked is misrepresented. There were no bath towels (the listing indicated towels are included) and when I reached out to my host, Daniel, he simply blamed it on the Airbnb system. Hence at 9+pm, I had to scramble to the mall to purchase towels before the shops closed. Daniel who had been very responsive prior to that suddenly went very quiet and ignored me twice when I asked if he was going to reimburse me. Mysteriously, the wifi signal disappeared soon after and never came back on for the duration of my stay. The beds were not as comfortable as you would get in a 1* hotel. We woke up with excruciating pain in our backs. The beds are so hard and uncomfortable, I need a chiropractor.

Genuinely the worst Airbnb experience I have ever had. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

San Want Hotel, Taipei…time for this hotel to join the 21st century

If you are looking for a modern, classy place this may not be the best place for you, but if you want clean rooms with a lot of space and a great price I would suggest you give them a try.

There is absolutely nothing modern about the rooms. Everything does have a very 70s hotel feel to it, from wallpaper to furniture to the box TV on a swivel. … you’re starting to get the picture here. There is free wifi but the signal and signal strength is not good at all areas. Other than that it’s a decent place. The rooms aren’t huge, but they are plenty spacious.

If there’s one thing I like about this hotel, location is key salient point. Just a few minutes walk, you will find lots of restaurants, shopping malls, and one of Taipei’s most famous night market (Rao He) is just a 15 minutes taxi-ride away. The mass transit station which connects to major tourist sites is a stone’s throw away such as the Sun Yat sen memorial. There’s even a 24-hour bookstore nearby. You will never feel lonely in this area.

Having said all that, it’s time for this hotel to join the 21st century & update the product and improve it’s wifi. This is the true truth as I say it as it is…

Tallink Silja Superstar, Ferry Tallinn-Helsinki…business lounge was great stuff

Tallink Silja M/S Superstar line provides the fast ferry connection between Tallinn and Helsinki South harbour.  The travel time is slightly over 2 hours as Helsinki and Tallinn are only 80km apart.

Embarkation starts 30 minutes before departure, and there was a mad rush to board the vessel. They could have got assigned a different gangway for passengers on business class, I feel. Disembarkation in Helsinki was a straightforward affair, due partly to that fact that there is no passport control. I still felt that business class passengers should have priority of a different gangway.

Superstar has a well-equipped business lounge for 138 passengers. It offers wifi all the way! And comfortable seating. We had complimentary buffet dinner, and free drinks included in the price of the ticket. Great stuff.

This is the true truth an I say it as it is…
