Punjab Grill, New Delhi…pretending to be a 5-star restaurant

This place pretends to be a 5-star restaurant. It is most definitely not!

We had the tandoori duck and fish curry. It’s average. Nothing much to write about. Perhaps the only thing worth mentioning is the grain and texture of the rice is very nice. Overall, it was relatively pricey as well.

The staff were attentive but they simply don’t understand the meaning of the word prompt. They were  awfully slow in serving the rice and bringing the bill. If it wasn’t for my constant reminders, by the time we received the bill and rice, we wouldn’t have been young anymore.

Do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere. This is the true truth as I still say it as it is…

  1. Wow; first things first, I love your blog…just stumbled upon it through a random search, but can surely say its like a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information! Kudos.

I personally got stuck at this one entry, ’cause I found it a bit too ruthless (am sure you will beg to differ!). I have been to this place on more than one occasion and can say without doubt that there are no pretentions, whatsoever. My experiences at this place have been amazing each time (well except for once, but I think we can always oversee minor errors, atleast once!).

I absolutely love the food here; the staff, like you pointed, is attentive and in my experience prompt as well; the ambience is pretty good. It might not be a five start hotel, but then in a five star we would end up paying an equally high premium to dine, wouldn’t you agree! I personally love this place, but then that’s my personal opinion. Just thought of sharing my experience of this place, the way you have shared – first hand.

Could have been one of those ‘off-weather days’ and maybe you should give it another try!

    • It could have been one of their “off” days. Based on what you say, I will give it another try the next time I am in Delhi. Thank you
