Zion Road Fried Kway teow, Singapore…living on past glory

This stall won the makanSutra Street Food master 2007. It has not won it since. It’s easy to know why.

The owner of the stall has got a new helper to take orders and deal with customers while he is busy cooking. The helper is so unfriendly and cold, she’ll make Hannibal Lector seem like the cheerful characters from Disneyland

That aside, the kway teow is so bland and oily. A deadly combination that means “you-are-not-going-to-enjoy-your-meal”

The queue is still very long. That’s because of the awards and honourable reputation it has built for itself. Then the kway teow was awesome and unbeatable, as were Adolf Hitler, Liverpool and  Bernie Maddoff. But time flies and took the tastiness away. That’s the true truth. I always say it as it is.
